Safe Functional Fitness for Spinal Instability (ages 40+)

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

As we age, we lose strength in the muscles that support our spine, and our spine can compress and curve. This is a safe exercise program to improve overall strength and spinal stabilization. Improved spinal stabilization will allow for spine elongation and decompression which will often reduce pain and increase tolerance to activity. This class is safe for people with kyphosis, scoliosis, and osteoporosis. The goal is to provide education to improve alignment and spinal mechanics to reduce spinal compression and pain. I will review safe postures and spinal movement to reduce scoliosis and kyphosis progression and reduce risk of spinal compression fractures. I will teach safe exercises during class to be performed at home between classes. Participants must be able to get on and off of the floor with the assistance of a chair if necessary.*Yoga mat required; two yoga blocks are recommended
