Bill Gates plays it. Warren Buffet plays it. Contract bridge, or Bridge for short, is a four-person card game that sets two teams of two against each other. Bridge uses the standard 52 card deck divided between the four people with the goal of one team trying to make a predetermined goal while the other team tries to stop them. In class, students will be actively engaged during instruction through interactive examples, live demonstrations, and videos. The first hour of class will be for teaching and the second will be for practicing. The class will cover topics ranging from basic bridge play, dummy hand, trump suits, bidding, and declarer play. By learning Bridge, students will gain numerous benefits such as: gaining more focus, developing deeper critical thinking, and developing better creativity. Students should be able to play the entire game of contract bridge by the end of the course.
