Saturday Art with Miss Leigh: Level II (ages 9-12)

This class is for more advanced techniques and corrections. Examples include previous color mixing knowledge as well as working with a ruler for more precise measurements and the ability to draw more proportionate shapes. Students should also know how to vary pressure (lightly) with a pencil and have the ability to take instruction. Students are expected to work on their project for the entire class. *Students may enroll as young as 8 if they meet the prerequisites above.

Art in the Wild: Arctic Animals - Students will create different works of art inspired by animals, using various art mediums. Projects include a penguin chigiri-e collage, narwhal watercolor, moose colored pencil, and polar bear silhouette oil pastel.

It’s All about Perspective - Students will learn how to use perspective in their art. Projects include one-point birds eye view of city, colored pencil inspired by Spiderman, three-point perspective Rubik’s Cube watercolor and more.

Color Theory Basics – Students will learn how to coordinate, mix and tint colors in various color schemes. Projects include monochromatic mixed media, primary/secondary gummy bear acrylic painting, analogous chigiri-e collage and oil pastel abstract inspired by Kandinsky.
