Kinusaiga: No-Sew Fabric Mosaic
Kinusaiga is a Japanese fabric art form that originated as a way to repurpose beautiful silk scraps from kimonos. The art reflects the Japanese concept of mottainai—the belief that valuable materials should be appreciated and not wasted.
Today, Kinusaiga is practiced around the world using a wide variety of fabrics and modern materials, while continuing to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and the beauty of textiles.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will create a beautiful Kinusaiga artwork to take home. Choose from a provided design or draw yourself. Participants are also welcome to bring their own fabric scraps to incorporate into their project.
Materials Fee: A $20 materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.
