Interested in Running a Program?


Newtown Township Parks & Recreation is always interested in new program ideas! If you are interested in running a program, please complete the course information form listed below and email it to recreation@newtownpa.gov. Please include a resume if relevant. Our department will review all programs and determine if it fits our current department needs. Pricing for programs is based on a financial split between township and instructor. 

Instructors running programs for anyone under the age of 18, must have all three Pennsylvania child clearances before the start of the class, no exceptions (Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprinting).

If there are programs, other than the ones listed below, that you are interested in teaching, feel free to reach out, just note that we do not like to conflict with ourselves or offer too many classes in the same category. Check out NewtownFun.com for the current list of class offerings.

All programs are subject to a department review and may be approved or denied at the discretion of the Parks & Recreation Department.

 Programs we are looking for

We are currently looking for the following class ideas:


  • Cooking classes - desserts, cooking for one, etc. Classes can be held at the Newtown Township Admin Building. The kitchen is small and can hold roughly 4 adults or 6 children.

    • Classes can occasionally be scheduled on a school night at one of the local CRSD schools, depending on availability.



  • Teen/Adult Photography - teach how to take quality photos on a cell phone or digital camera.

  • Astronomy - evening class for kids and/or adults, using a telescope to see planets and stars.Instructor would have to provide a telescope for class.

  • Gymnastics - basic tumbling (we do not have access to a gym or storage space for this program). Our classroom is 20x30 ft.


We do not offer the following programs: 


  • Therapeutic

  • Spiritual

  • Political

  • Medical
