Maybe you've done a Wooble, you know a few stitches but aren't sure what you can make, or it's been a few years since you've picked up your crochet hook and need a refresher. This class is for you!  Step-by-step instructions and guidance will be provided.  April/May Session Required MaterialsSize H (5 mm) crochet hook & Skeins of Yarn made of at least 50% wool. Colors and amount will vary depending on the breed of dog you are interested in making. For example a Golden Retriever would require 1 skein of yellow yarn where a Border Collie would require 2 skeins of yarn, one black and one white. Breed options: Solid 1 Color Dog Breeds (any color of your choice); German Shepherd (light brown & black), Border collie (white & black), Yorkie (light brown & gray), Bernese Mountain Dog (white, black, and orange), sheep dog (white & gray),&  husky (white and black/gray)Note: These dogs should not be given to young children as gifts. Acrylic paint pouring is a form of abstract painting using fluid acrylic paints. You don’t apply the paint with a brush but use gravity to move the paint by pouring, puddling, and dripping onto your canvas. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to spark your creative energy! DRESS FOR A MESS! Acrylic paint does stain, so please dress accordingly.* Ages 7 - 10 must be accompanied by an adult.Materials Fee: A $10 materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.Paintings will remain at the Parks and Recreation Building in order to dry. Learn to make your own soap from start to finish. This is a hands-on class for the beginner soap maker, no prior experience is required. The soap making process taught is Cold Process, Thermal Heat/Room Temperature technique.  You will make a log of soap, approximately 30 oz prior to curing.Objectives of class: To gain an understanding of the following: Understanding lye safety.  Learning how to correctly measure raw materials using grams and ounces. What is a soap calculator and why it is used. How fats and oils become soap. What is super fatting? Essential Oils and Fragrant Oils: How they differ? Handout will contain the following information: soap making instructions, lye safety instructions, equipment requirements and reference books and websites resources. General InformationParticipants need to bring the following items; participation is prohibited without the necessary equipment. Full Apron Heavy Rubber Gloves (i.e., Playtex Long Line)  2 old heavy towels to keep your soap warm  Soap Making attire: (1) Closed toes shoes; (2) Long sleeve shirt (high collar); (3) Long pants (these can be old, something that you do not mind getting soiled); (4) Tie back for long hair. Since 2006 The Skateboard Academy has been serving Philadelphia and surrounding areas with quality community style lessons. These lessons are open to anyone who is a beginner to intermediate level skateboarder. This program teaches beginners to intermediate skill levels in all forms of skateboarding. The lessons they learn on the skateboard translate into skill sets they can use off the skateboard as well. Students learn self-control, patience, perseverance, community, and commitment, to name a few benefits. These are an outdoor community skateboard lessons. Please be sure to bring water, snack, sunscreen, appropriate clothes for the season and protective gear. Should you decide to continue to parts Two and Three, our explorations will continue with the symbolic meaning of the imagery, significance of the colors, the connect to astrology, and larger and more extended layouts. Colors and amount will vary depending on the breed of dog you are interested in making. Piano Junior is a fun, high energy one-time piano exploration class (for child and parent)!  This class will introduce you to beginning piano/music concepts with singing and movement activities.  Children will also get to try out what they've learned on keyboards.  The main goal of this class is to get your child excited about playing an instrument in the future. This class is also a great way to gauge your child's interest in learning to play piano.

Since 2006 The Skateboard Academy has been serving Philadelphia and surrounding areas with quality community style lessons. These lessons are open to anyone who is a beginner to intermediate level skateboarder. This program teaches beginners to intermediate skill levels in all forms of skateboarding. The lessons they learn on the skateboard translate into skill sets they can use off the skateboard as well. Students learn self-control, patience, perseverance, community, and commitment, to name a few benefits. These are an outdoor community skateboard lessons. Please be sure to bring water, snack, sunscreen, appropriate clothes for the season and protective gear. This is a beginner’s class for anyone interested in the fascinating and esoteric world of Tarot. You'll learn all the meanings of the cards, combinations of cards, various layouts, and types of readings. The course is designed in 3 parts but this first class will still teach you what you need to do readings. Should you decide to continue to parts Two and Three, our explorations will continue with the symbolic meaning of the imagery, significance of the colors, the connect to astrology, and larger and more extended layouts. You'll learn the proper way to interpret the cards so that your readings are respectful and helpful to the maximum. Teacher, Robert Hazzon, has been reading cards for over 45 years and has a enthusiastic following on Facebook and has been teaching Tarot at various Parks and Recreation Departments for over two years now.
