It is widely accepted that T'ai Chi improves balance and lowers high blood pressure. Because of its effectiveness this moving meditation has recently been written about in The New York Times, AARP National Magazine, and many other publications. Acrylic paint pouring is a form of abstract painting using fluid acrylic paints. You don’t apply the paint with a brush but use gravity to move the paint by pouring, puddling, and dripping onto your canvas. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to spark your creative energy! DRESS FOR A MESS! Acrylic paint does stain, so please dress accordingly.* Ages 7 - 10 must be accompanied by an adult.Materials Fee: A $10 materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.Paintings will remain at the Parks and Recreation Building in order to dry. Sitting at a desk or computer all day takes a toll on more than just your eyes. Aesha’s approach to Yoga is an effective training to counter the effects of habitual slumping and spinal compression. In this training we will strengthen the spine, pelvic floor and abdominals, while stretching the tight muscles which lead to a hunched posture. This yoga will offer simple and practical asanas (poses) for every fitness level. This specialized Yoga program is a fantastic way to combat the negative effects of sitting at a desk all day. During this class we will work on addressing common muscle imbalances while having fun. Recommended Equipment: Yoga mat, Yoga blocks, Comfortable clothes to move in, and a Water bottle. A slower-paced form of yoga, gentle yoga, or restorative yoga, emphasizes relaxation, flexibility, mindfulness and deep breathing. Typically, practitioners hold poses for longer periods, helping to build strength. It is designed to be accessible to everyone, including beginners, seniors, and those with physical limitations or returning to yoga after an injury. Poses can be modified to accommodate all abilities and can include the use of props, such as blankets, blocks and chairs, as needed. Focusing on breath work and connecting with the body can also calm the mind and reduce stress.
